I Heart Bar Carts

Writer's picture: Christina HollensbeChristina Hollensbe

I heart bar carts. No, not because I regularly partake in liquid libations but because they are great for styling and corralling all the junk I buy that I don’t need all my pretties. There is so much you can do with bar/serving/tea carts. They are not only stylish but functional and practical. In fact, a serving cart was put to great use this past Thanksgiving when we ran out of room placing all the food on the table. It became an extension of the table, if you will. I also recently bought one that looked like a Michael Aram piece (without the Michael Aram price). This was a cart I had been eye-balling for quite some time but it was nowhere to be found <insert sad face here>. UNTIL, I went perusing through At Home and saw the Lone Ranger from a distance. Our eyes met from across the ...(ok, ok let’s not get too carried away here). But the point is, it was the only one in stock. When I looked for the price, there was no price tag on it. I saw a tag laying on the ground and decided to take it up front to see if it matched. I didn’t think it would since the tag was only for $79....aaaaand it wasn’t a match.😏 BUT, since the cashier/manager couldn’t find a price for it, she gave it to me for $79 anyway (*resounding cheer here🙌🏼)! I couldn’t believe it because y’all, I’ve NEVER seen a serving cart for under $100 so this was a steal! Here it is in all its glory.😊😊😊

I looked on the internet when I got home and I didn’t find this particular cart but I did find one similar...for nearly $2500!  (See proof here)

See what I mean?!  A steal!

I currently keep my cart by the fireplace with glasses, coasters, napkins, and beverages ready so guests can help themselves.  This is what it looks like styled for Spring.

So, with keeping my love for carts in mind, I recently went on the hunt for a bar cart for my BATHROOM of all places.  I know it’s unconventional but I really needed something pretty next to my tub for easy access to my spa-like bath salts, soaps, lotions, etc (I’m a bath girl...anybody else?🙋🏻‍♀️).

I had a hard time deciding what I wanted.  I mean there are SO MANY beautiful ones out there!  But two three things were a must.  ONE, it had to be functional, not just pretty. So I needed 3 tiers to house all my crap wonderful spa retreat like products. TWO, it had to be gold.  My home was built in the 90s so a lot of the fixtures are gold.  We CANNOT WAIT to renovate the bathrooms.  But for now, “if you can’t beat em, join em”. THREE, with the high price of bar carts, I vowed I would not spend over $200.  My bathroom is kind of narrow so I didn’t need a large one to take up a lot of space anyway.  Just something simple, functional, but pretty. :)

I couldn’t decide on which cart I wanted so I took a poll on Instagram (follow me here 👉🏼 Instagram.com/HollensbeHomeDesigns).

Quite frankly, you guys were split down the middle.  So I decided to go with my initial gut and go for the one that is most practical (simple but still pretty).

Ta-daaaah!  I had fun styling this one.  A bit of a challenge housing all my bath and body products because I like to keep them “hidden” to avoid it looking cluttered.  Truth be told, I want some prettier displays to house it all but I think for now, this works.  What do y’all think?

I’m posting links to a few of my finds below. Happy Shopping!

Love and Blessings,
