Kate Spade - Inspired Office

I love all things Kate Spade ♠️! (And those of you who’ve been following me for a while have seen I have a small Kate Spade shoe and purse addiction collection🙈).

As we’re nearing tax season, there was only one thing on my mind...get that office in order! I am one of those strange lovely people that has to get things clean and organized BEFORE I make some “chaos” (I’m the same way about my kitchen. I clean the kitchen before I begin to cook!🤷🏻‍♀️. Anybody else?!🙋🏻‍♀️)

Anyhow, so I started organizing paperwork in my home office and it just didn’t give me the "feel goods". I have a lot of things I no longer use (and some things that I still use) scattered in different boxes, drawers, etc. It was driving me crazy so I knew it was time for a home office refresh!

I was really excited about it because it’s the only room in the house I feel I can go “all girly” in (the office nook also doubles as my vanity). If it were up to me, the rest of my house would be covered in florals, fuchsia, and flamingos but you know, I have to remember that “burly man” lives here too. ;)

As I looked around my office, some of my favorite things are things like this Kate Spade box...

And lamp...

That mixed with beautiful bold colors of tropical plants and flowers like this pillow makes me “spark joy”. :).

I had already started redecorating my office but for this purpose, I’ll stick to the transformation of the office nook. Evidently the previous owners of the home turned the closet into a built-in desk/office area. I was initially using it to store all my make-up but since I live in loungewear and “messy hair don’t care”, I decided to go somewhat minimalist with all that makeup and use the space for something more useful.

It really all started with this cute Kate Spade ♠️ box I found online...

Soooo...I got inspired and started off painting the wall and shelves WHITE. The wall originally had a bluish tint and the shelves were...well “yellowish”.😏. YUP, time for a fresh coat of paint! Here is the "before".

Bleh! Looks horrendous! (Sorry about the lighting but even with bad lighting, you can see how bad it looked).

I hate painting and would rather gouge my eye out than to sit there and watch paint dry. I’m SO GLAD I decided to go ahead and paint because it certainly brightened up the room!

I also took that awful formica desk countertop and transformed it into what else?! Polka dots!

I initially wanted something bold like one of Kate Spade’s other fabulous BRIGHT and COLORFUL boxes but I thought looking at a large countertop in HOT PINK could be dizzying (but y’all, I had it in my virtual cart and was ready to hit that “check out” button buuuuut I decided to play it safe and stick to the cute “polka dot” version of Kate Spade’s boxes). It’s subtle but still makes a statement. ;)

Keeping with the Kate Spade inspiration, I also decided to do some gold gilding on the hardware and a DIY in making my own Kate Spade nesting boxes. :)

Are you guys ready for the big reveal!?

Tadaaaah!

What do y’all think? I absolutely love it! It’s just so “me” and quite frankly, this home office is my “happy place”. :)

Stay tuned for Part 2 of my “Kate Spade-Inspired” office where I will share more pics and talk about wallpapering my desk countertop, DIY Kate Spade inspired boxes, and more!

I will leave you with a few more pics. Hope you think it's FABULOUS and please let me know what you think and leave a comment below! ;)
